NWCA Announces the 2022 NCAA Women’s Scholar All-America Awards

Manheim, PA – On Monday, the NWCA announced the full slate of 2021-2022 Scholar All-America Team and Individual honorees for the NCAA Women’s division with awards going to 135 individuals representing 22 institutions.

“On behalf of the NWCA Board of Directors, It is my honor to recognize these exceptional athletes and teams,” NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer said. “Wrestling takes much focus and sacrifice and we are proud to honor these wrestlers for their obvious commitment to their academic pursuits!”

Five Mavericks Earn NWCA Scholar All-America Honors

Manheim, Pa. — A total of five Minnesota State wrestlers have been named National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-Americans for their efforts on the mat and in the classroom.

Junior Shane Gibson, senior Trenton McManus, sophomore Josh Piechowski, senior Cooper Siebrecht, and senior Trevor Turriff all received the honor.

SMSU’s Howk and Shields earn NWCA Scholar Award

MANHEIM, Pa. – Southwest Minnesota State University wrestlers Sean Howk and Robert Shields have been named National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division II Scholar All-Americans announced on Friday morning.

In order to qualify for the NCAA Division II Scholar All-America Team, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale and compete in a minimum of four dates of competition.

Concordia Scholar All-American Team and Individual Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. — The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced that Concordia earned Academic Scholar All-American Team honors and a pair of student-athletes received Scholar All-American awards

The Cobbers finished in the Top 20 in all of Division III for team grade point average. Concordia posted a team GPA of 3.608 which was the 18th highest in the nation. The Scholar All-American Team honors mark the eighth time in the past 11 seasons that the award has been handed out, that Concordia achieved All-American Team honors.

The 3.608 overall team GPA is also one of the highest for Concordia in program history.

Augsburg earns NWCA Scholar All-America Team national title

10 Auggies are Scholar All-Americans

MINNEAPOLIS — For the third time in program history, the Augsburg University men’s wrestling team has claimed the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III academic team national title, with a team grade-point average of 3.879 leading all NCAA Division III programs, it was announced on Friday.

Ten Auggies were named NWCA Division III Scholar All-Americans: Seth Goetzinger (FY, Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield HS), Blake Jagodzinske (FY, Sherburn, Minn./Martin County West HS), Tyler Kim (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS), Kaden Reetz (SO, Madison, Wis./Madison Memorial HS), Matt Rogge (FY, Eastman, Wis./Prairie du Chien HS), Nick Rogge (SR, Eastman, Wis./Prairie du Chien HS), Tyler Shilson (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Centennial HS), Carter Sorenson (FY, Lengby, Minn./Fosston HS), Derek Steele (FY, Winthrop, Minn./Sibley East HS) and Charlie Stuhl (SO, Ellsworth, Wis./Ellsworth HS). It is the third career Scholar All-America honor for Nick Rogge, and the second for Kim and Stuhl.

NDSU No. 2 in NWCA Scholar All-America Team Rankings; Four Bison Honored

MANHEIM, Pa. – North Dakota State was ranked No. 2 in the 2021 NWCA Scholar All-America team standings announced Thursday, May 20, by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

NDSU’s 3.5440 team grade-point average was second only to Long Island’s 3.5584. Cleveland State was third (3.5331), Stanford fourth (3.5010) and George Mason (3.4818) rounded out the top five the 30 teams recognized.

2021 NWCA Division I Scholar All-America Awards

Manheim, PA – On Thursday, the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced the 2021 Scholar All-American Team and Individual honorees for NCAA Division I with awards going to 191 individuals representing 59 institutions.

“It’s my honor on behalf of the NWCA and our Board of Directors to recognize this outstanding list of team and individual award winners,” said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. “These athletes had to navigate a season full of unknowns and the fact they were able to continue to excel in the classroom is a testament to the attack mentality that wrestlers bring to every aspect of their lives.”

2021 NCAA Women’s Scholar All-America Awards

Manheim, PA – On Friday, the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced the Scholar All-America Team and Individual honorees for the NCAA Women with awards going to 101 individuals representing 16 institutions.

“On behalf of the NWCA and our Board of Directors, it is my honor to celebrate this incredible list of Scholar All-America teams and individuals from the NCAA Women’s division,” said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. “It is so great to see the growth of this award program which is now in its third year. It’s important to note the incredible overlap between the National Placers and Scholar All-Americans as this is exactly what we want to see.”

In the team race, Adrian College repeated as Team Champions with a 3.743 GPA followed by #2 McKendree (3.720) and #3 King University (3.621). Rounding out the Top Five was #4 Augsburg (3.586) and #5 Gannon (3.573).
