OREM, Utah — South Dakota State sophomore Isaac Andrade was named Western Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week for his 2-0 outing Sunday against Buffalo and Dakota Wesleyan.
Trailing 4-2 entering the third period against Buffalo’s Max Soria, Andrade (125 pounds) recorded a three-point nearfall to spearhead a 7-6 comeback against UB’s best wrestler.
Prescott, wrestling at 125 pounds posted a 3-0 record with three decisions leading the seventh-ranked Huskies to a 2-1 record at the University of Central Missouri Duals held Sunday, Jan. 4 in Warrensburg, Mo.
OREM, Utah — North Dakota State University 285-pound senior Evan Knutson (Wausau, Wis./Wausau West HS) has been named the Western Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week after an outstanding performance on the mat last week. The conference award was announced Monday by the league.
Knutson recorded a pin to seal North Dakota State’s 23-14 win over South Dakota State in a non-conference dual on Sunday afternoon in Fargo. NDSU won the Border Bell trophy for the second straight year with the victory.
OREM, Utah — For the second time on the season, North Dakota State University 184-pound junior Hayden Zillmer (Crosby, Minn./Crosby HS) has been named the Western Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week after an outstanding performance on the mat last week. The conference award was announced Monday by the league.
Zillmer upset the nation’s top-ranked wrestler to place third at the 33rd annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational in the Las Vegas Convention Center on Saturday, Dec. 6. Zillmer defeated No. 1 Gabe Dean of Cornell by the score of 8-3 in the third-place match.
OREM, Utah — The Western Wresting Conference named South Dakota State senior Cody Pack the Wrestler of the Week for his 5-0 weekend, including a Keystone Classic championship.
Pack, who is ranked #10 at 157 by The Open Mat, started his weekend with a pin of Noel Franco (5:32) of Drexel in SDSU’s 31-6 rout of the Dragons.
