Mustangs finish 12th at regional tournament; Reinsma punches ticket to NCAA Championships

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University wrestling team concluded its season on Sunday competing in the NCAA Super Region Three Tournament hosted by St. Cloud State University. SMSU finished 12th out of 12 teams finishing with 44 team points while host St. Cloud State earned 164 points to earn the region championship for the second straight season.

Mavericks Defeat Mustangs 23-15 in Regular Season Finale

Marshall, Minn. — After alternating wins up to 165-lb, Minnesota State used back-to-back wins at 174-lb and 184-lb to catapolt them to a 23-15 win over Southwest Minnesota State University.

The win tonight is Jim Makovsky’s 250th career win as a head coach!

Southwest Minnesota State 21 MSU-Moorhead 15

Two pins lead Mustangs to victory over MSU Moorhead on Friday

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State improved to 10-5 on the season, 3-3 in the NSIC with a 21-15 victory over MSU Moorhead (2-10, 0-7 NSIC) on Friday night in Moorhead, Minn. The Mustangs won five of the 10 bouts, getting pins from Justin Reinsma and Jacob Begin.
