STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The NWCA All-Star Classic served as a showcase of collegiate wrestling, featuring 14 matchups between top-ranked men’s and women’s wrestlers.
Novak Selected for NWCA All-Star Classic
Novak, the returning NCAA D-II National Champion at 157 pounds, will wrestle 2023 NCAA D-III National Champion
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Wrestling junior 157-pounder Nick Novak (New Prague, Minn.) has been selected to compete in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic presented by Cliff Keen, as announced by the organization. Novak will travel to the campus of Penn State University for the event, which is scheduled to take place Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 6:00 p.m. CT.
Novak is the first St. Cloud State wrestler to ever be selected for this event.
The prestigious event began in 1967 and was a staple of the college season until 2017. After a four-year hiatus, the All-Star Classic made its return in 2022 in Austin, Texas due, in large part, to the support of the National Wrestling Coaches Association. This year’s meet will take place at Rec Hall on the campus of Penn State.
St. Cloud State Dominates Central Missouri and Drury to Open Dual Season
Huskies earn 15 bonus point victories, win 37-11 over (RV) Central Missouri and 46-5 over Drury
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – No. 4 St. Cloud State Wrestling opened its 2023-23 dual season with a pair of dominant wins on Thursday at the Drury Duals in Springfield, Mo., winning 37-11 over (RV) Central Missouri and 46-5 over Drury. The Huskies went a combined 16-4 in the two duals with 15 bonus point victories, including eight falls, four technical falls and three major decisions.
In the first match, the Mules jumped out to an 8-0 lead with major decision wins in the opening two matches before the Huskies rattled off seven consecutive victories to seize the match. No. 12 Alyeus Craig started the run at 141 pounds with a second-period fall (3:40) over Derek Torza and the Huskies were rolling from then on out. Craig’s pin was the first of four in the match for the Huskies, as No. 4 Anthony Herrera (165), Bryce Dagel (174) and Bryce FitzPatrick (184) went back-to-back-to-back with pins in the second half of the match. Herrera provided a ranked win in his matchup, as he beat No. 8 John Ridle in the first period (2:44).
St. Cloud State Set for Drury Duals on Thursday
Huskies will wrestle Central Missouri and Drury in Springfield
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 4 St. Cloud State Wrestling will compete in dual competition for the first time this season at the Drury Duals, as the Huskies are slated to wrestle (RV) Central Missouri and Drury on Thursday, Nov. 16 at Weiser Gym in Springfield, Mo. The Huskies and Mules will wrestle at 10:00 a.m. CT, with SCSU and Drury slated to take the mat at 12:00 p.m. CT.
The duals will be streamed through the GLVC Sports Network for a fee, while live results will be available through TrackWrestling.

St. Cloud State Inks Seven Top Notch Prospects
Costanzo adds seven wrestlers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois for 2024-25
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Wrestling head coach Steve Costanzo announced the addition of seven new student-wrestlers to the Huskies wrestling team roster for 2024-25.
The signees, who plan to enroll at SCSU next fall include:

Huskies earn nine top-three finishes, four titles in silver division
DECORAH, Iowa – No. 4 St. Cloud State Wrestling wrestled hard at the Luther Open on Saturday, registering nine top-three finishes which included a third-place finish from James Burks in the 174 elite division and four first place finishes in the silver division. Earning top of podium finishes in the silver division was Derek Johnson (165), Cole Glazier (174), Nathan Fury (197) and Donnie Hidden (HWT).
Burks went 4-1 in the elite division at 174 with one bonus point victory. He began the tournament by earning a decision over Luther’s Brenden Hendel (12-5), followed by a first-period fall over Iowa’s Aiden Riggens (0:48) in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Burks dropped his match to Augsburg’s Seth Goetzinger (fall 5:54) to move to the third-place match where he defeated Stevens Tech’s Stefan Major (Dec. 6-2).
