#1 SCSU Wrestling Clinches NSIC Championship

St. Cloud, Minn. – The #1 ranked St. Cloud State University wrestling team (21-0, 8-0 NSIC) captured its second consecutive Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship with a convincing 29-6 victory over #8 ranked Minnesota State University (9-3, 6-1 NSIC) on Thursday, Feb. 14 in Halenbeck Hall.

SCSU Holds on to #1 National Ranking

EDMOND, Okla. — St. Cloud State maintained its stranglehold on the NCAA Division II wrestling rankings Wednesday as the Huskies stayed atop the latest Division II Wrestling Coaches Association poll.

SCSU received all eight first-place votes in balloting of head coaches from around the country to finish with 160 points as the unanimous No. 1 pick for the third straight poll. The Huskies are 20-0 and take a 46-match winning streak into Thursday’s (Feb. 14) dual finale against Minnesota State-Mankato.

SCSU Wrestling Brings Home Win Over #6 Upper Iowa

Fayette, Iowa – In a battle of two of the nation’s top NCAA Division II wrestling programs, the #1 ranked St. Cloud State University Huskies (20-0, 7-0 NSIC) scored a 20-14 victory at #6 Upper Iowa University (10-4, 6-2 NSIC) on Sunday, Feb. 10.

The victory helped the Huskies maintain their hold on first place in the 2012-13 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings and SCSU has the opportunity to win the title outright on Thursday, Feb. 14 when the Huskies host Minnesota State University at 7 p.m. in Halenbeck Hall.

AWN Dual of the Week: No. 1 St. Cloud State at No. 6 Upper Iowa

Two of the top teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference will tangle on Sunday in Fayette, Iowa as top-ranked St. Cloud State will put its undefeated record on the line against sixth-ranked Upper Iowa. St. Cloud State is riding a 45-match win streak and is closing in on Central Oklahoma’s Division II record of 47 in a row. The two met back in January in the quarterfinals of the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals where the Huskies topped the Peacocks 29-12. Upper Iowa has won three in a row since dropping a 21-15 dual to Minnesota State-Mankato on January 24. Continue reading at
