St. Cloud State Eyes Sixth National Championship in Park City, Kansas

No. 3 ranked Huskies send eight wrestlers to NCAA Tournament

St. Cloud, Minn.- No.3 St. Cloud State Wrestling will be competing for their sixth National Championship this weekend as they travel to the Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas, for the NCAA Division II Championships. Sessions I and II are scheduled for Friday at 10:00 A.M. CT and 5:00 P.M. CT. Session III is set for 10:00 A.M. CT on Saturday, with the Finals taking place at 7:00 P.M. CT. Session I will consist of the preliminaries and first round. Session II will be the quarterfinals and first- and second-round consolations. Session III will be the semifinals and wrestlebacks (seventh, fifth, and third place matches).

LAST TIME OUT
Two weeks ago, the Huskies competed in the Super Region V Tournament in Minot, North Dakota. St. Cloud State got off to a fast start as eight wrestlers advanced to the semifinals in their respective weight classes. 125-pound Conor Knopick, 141-pound Alyeus Craig, 149-pound Colby Njos, 157-pound Nick Novak, 165-pound Anthony Herrera, 174-pound Cole Glazier, 184-pound Bryce Fitzpatrick, and 197-pound Dominic Murphy all made the semifinal round with Njos, Novak, Herrera, and Murphy reaching the finals. Knopick, Craig, Glazier, and Fitzpatrick all battled back through the wrestle backs to reach the third-place match, while 133-pound Caleb Meekins also reached the third-place match after losing in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Six Huskies Earn All-NSIC Honors

Novak earns NSIC First Team honors, five Huskies named to Second Team

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – No. 4 St. Cloud State Wrestling had a league-best six student-athletes named All-NSIC on Tuesday as the conference office announced their All-Conference teams. Junior 157-pounder Nick Novak (New Prague, Minn.) earned First Team honors while redshirt junior 149-pounder Colby Njos (Anoka, Minn.), graduate 165-pounder Anthony Herrera (Stansbury Park, Utah), freshman 174-pounder Cole Glazier (Kasson, Minn.), redshirt junior 184-pounder Bryce FitzPatrick (Mahtomedi, Minn.) and redshirt senior 197-pounder Dominic Murphy (Evergreen Park, Ill.) were named to the Second Team.

Novak has followed up his undefeated 2023 national championship campaign with another undefeated season this 2023-24. Entering the NCAA Championships, Novak is 21-0 with 11 wins coming by bonus points (one major decision, nine technical falls, one fall). This past weekend, Novak captured his third consecutive and second straight Super Region V championship at 157 pounds to earn a trip back to the NCAA Tournament.

St. Cloud State Wrestling Captures 8th Consecutive Super Region V Championship

No. 5 ranked Huskies produce three champions, qualify eight for NCAA II Championship

Minot, N.D.- No. 5 St. Cloud State Wrestling earned their eighth consecutive NCAA Super Region V Championship while qualifying eight wrestlers- three of which are Super Region Champions- for the upcoming NCAA II Championship in Wichita, Kansas. Head coach Steve Costanzo captured his 11th Super Region Championship during his tenure with the program.

The Huskies got off to a strong start as eight wrestlers advanced to the semifinals, including 125-pound Conor Knopick, 141-pound Alyeus Craig, 149-pound Colby Njos, 157-pound Nick Novak, 165-pound Anthony Herrera, 174-pound Cole Glazier, 184-pound Bryce Fitzpatrick, and 197-pound Dominic Murphy. Njos, Novak, Herrera, and Murphy all advanced to the finals in their respective weight classes while Knopick, Craig, Glazier, and Fitzpatrick suffered defeats and had to win two matches to qualify for the NCAA Championship. All four were able to earn victories in the consolation semifinals and advance to the third-place match. After losing his first match in the quarterfinals, 133-pound Caleb Meekins battled his way back and also reached the third-place match.

No. 5 St. Cloud State Gears up for NCAA Super Region V Tournament

Huskies look for eighth consecutive NCAA Regional Championship

St. Cloud, Minn.- No. 4 St. Cloud State Wrestling begins the 2024 postseason with the NCAA Super Region V Tournament on Saturday, March 2, at the Minot State University Dome in Minot, North Dakota. Session 1 is scheduled to begin at 10:00 A.M. CT.

The top 3 placers at each weight will advance to the 2024 NCAA Championships in Wichita, Kansas. SCSU has advanced at least six wrestlers to the National Tournament in 16 of head coach Steve Costanzo’s 17 years at the helm. The Huskies have won seven straight Super Region V Championships and ten total under Costanzo’s watch, placing top-two in 15 of the past 16 tournaments.
