Four Oles place in top five of brackets at North Country Open

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Senior Dawson Kremlacek placed fourth in the 125-pound gold bracket as four members of the St. Olaf College wrestling team competed at the North Country Open at Sexton Arena on the campus of Saint John’s University on Saturday.

Kremlacek dropped his opening match to UW-Eau Claire’s Jack Marley by tech fall but rebounded with a win over Patrick Baumgardner of Southwest Minnesota State by a 6-2 decision. He then lost the third-place match by tech fall to Willie Meine of Southwest Minnesota State.

Division 3 Tournament & Dual Team Polls and Individual Rankings

Manheim, PA – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III team dual meet, team tournament, and individual rankings have been released. There were quite a few changes in each poll after all the action that took place over the weekend at the US Marine Corps/NWCA Multi-Division National Duals Championships in Louisville, KY. Wartburg sits atop the Team Dual Poll after winning the Division III Championship over Augsburg, while Augsburg holds the #1 ranking in the Team Tournament Poll.

Kurtz highlights Oles’ showing at Central Under Armour Invite

PELLA, Iowa – First-year Kris Kurtz advanced to the consolation championship at 184 pounds to highlight the St. Olaf College wrestling team’s performances at the Central College Under Armour Invitational on Saturday at H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse.

After being pinned in the opening round, Kurtz rebounded by winning a pair of narrow decisions – 4-3 over Kalamana McCreadie of Morningside and 4-2 over Jonathon Juarez of Graceland – before falling by pin at 4:10 of the consolation championship to Briar Cliff’s Jonathan Garcia.

St. Olaf 45, Waldorf 12

Ridgways record pins, wrestling wins first home dual

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College wrestling team got pins from sophomore Jack Ridgway and senior Bryant Ridgway on its way to a 45-12 victory over visiting Waldorf University in its first home dual of the season on Thursday evening at Skoglund Center.

The pins from the Ridgway brothers highlighted the dual victory for St. Olaf, which also got a win by decision from senior Luke Wallace, in addition to five forfeits. Arie Reyes and Marcus McGinley recorded pins for Waldorf in the loss.
