SJU Wrestling Posts Seven Pins in 45-6 Win

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Saint John’s wrestling ended its 2019-20 dual schedule with a powerful 45-6 win at St. Olaf on Thursday, Feb. 13, in Northfield.

The Johnnies (2-5 dual record) totaled seven pins in the victory. Both teams forfeited the bout at 125 pounds and the Oles (1-2 dual record) were awarded six points when SJU forfeited the match at 149. The dual was likely the last for St. Olaf, which announced in October that it is discontinuing the sport at the end of the 2019-20 academic year.

Senior Noah Becker (Browerville, Minn.) opened the dual with a second-period pin (3:30), his 15th consecutive win, at 133 pounds. He is ranked as high as No. 3 nationally (D3wrestle.com) and is now 19-1 this season.

Ridgway records two pins at Don Parker Open

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Senior Bryant Ridgway recorded a pair of pins in the Gold 157 bracket as five members of the St. Olaf College wrestling team competed at the Don Parker Open on Saturday on the campus of UW-Eau Claire.

Ridgway pinned Cam Kelly at 4:00 in the preliminary round and, after dropping a major decision to UW-La Crosse’s Nolan Hertel, pinned Luther’s Benjamin Mennenga at 6:47 in the first round of the consolation bracket. He ended his day with a major decision loss to Noah Parish of Rochester Community and Technical College.

Four Oles place in top five of brackets at North Country Open

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Senior Dawson Kremlacek placed fourth in the 125-pound gold bracket as four members of the St. Olaf College wrestling team competed at the North Country Open at Sexton Arena on the campus of Saint John’s University on Saturday.

Kremlacek dropped his opening match to UW-Eau Claire’s Jack Marley by tech fall but rebounded with a win over Patrick Baumgardner of Southwest Minnesota State by a 6-2 decision. He then lost the third-place match by tech fall to Willie Meine of Southwest Minnesota State.
