Since the inception of the TakeDown Cancer program, communities from the Midwest and beyond, have raised over $250,000 for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund. Proceeds go directly to fund cancer research and programs that benefit cancer patients.

Due to the COVID pandemic, limited fan events, and stresses on coaches, TakeDown Cancer has decided to give everyone the opportunity to chip in with an online donation. From February 7th-20th, wrestling families can donate directly to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund.

TakeDown Cancer Enters Year Seven

It’s time again to think about hosting a TakeDown Cancer event at one of your home meets, tournaments, or youth events.

TakeDown Cancer raises money for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund where over 91% of all money goes directly to research doctors and other cancer-related projects. TakeDown Cancer is an all-volunteer group with no paid salaries. Together we have raised almost $250,000.

TakeDown Cancer Surpasses a Quarter Million

Having surpassed a quarter of a million dollars in proceeds, TakeDown Cancer kicks off its 6th season at the November 25th Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. South Dakota State Jackrabbits dual. Match time 1 pm at the Pavilion.

All funds raised go directly to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund, a charity that maintains an extraordinarily high 92% efficiency rating. The funding is directed toward the best and brightest cancer researchers in the world as they advance on a wide array of new cancer treatments. Their work is making a difference and saving lives.

Gopher Wrestling Announces 2018 Promotions

With the season beginning Sunday at the Daktronics Open in Brookings, S.D., the University of Minnesota is happy to announce their 2018 promotions. The promotional schedule includes a variety of activities, ticket deals, community day ticket discounts, and select dates featuring Gopher wrestling Youth Clinics. Youth Clinic ticket packages include clinic instruction, a free clinic t-shirt, youth ticket to the dual, and recognition in between matches.
