Augsburg’s Valek heads to tournament 29-0

Augsburg has won 11 team national championships in wrestling, and senior Tony Valek is hoping to make it 12 starting Friday at the Division III NCAA championships in La Crosse, Wis. Valek, the No. 1 seed at 149 pounds, is undefeated (29-0) going into nationals. The Belle Plaine native also won a Class 2A individual title for Scott West at 135 pounds in 2007. USA Wrestling All-Star Dual Meet Set for St. Louis, Mo. on March 15

USA Wrestling and the NCAA are pleased to announce that there will be another USA Wrestling National Team All-Star Dual Meet held as part of the festivities at the 2012 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis, Mo.

This is the third straight year that a USA Wrestling exhibition will be provided free of charge to wrestling fans who are attending the championships.

Five Johnnies Primed for This Week’s NCAA Championships

Five Saint John’s wrestlers travel to La Crosse, Wis., for the 2012 NCAA Division III Championships this Friday and Saturday, March 9-10, at the La Crosse Center. Friday’s competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., followed by a second session at 6 p.m. Saturday begins with a 10 a.m. session and ends with the championship matches at 7 p.m.

Bison’s Stoll earns at-large berth to NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – North Dakota State junior Mac Stoll earned an at-large bid at 184 pounds to the 2012 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, which was announced by the NCAA Wednesday afternoon. Stoll, who finished third at the NCAA West Regional, will join Trent Sprenkle and Steven Monk, who both earned automatic bids after winning titles at the regional last weekend.
