Four Gopher wrestlers competed at the United World Wrestling Junior Freestyle World Team Trials in Irving, Texas over the weekend, each looking to earn a spot on the junior national team which will compete in the Junior World Championships later this summer. With only one spot available on Team USA at each weight, the competition was fierce.

Minnesota Storm wrestler Emily Shilson finished as Body Bar Women’s Nationals UWW Cadet National runner-up on Sunday to make the US Pan Am Championship team. She will represent the USA at 46 kgs when the team competes in Lima, Peru from June 30-July 3. Continue reading
IRVING, Texas – South Dakota State University wrestler Seth Gross earned a spot on the USA Junior World Team by winning the 60-kilogram division Sunday at the UWW Junior Freestyle World Team Trials.
A native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and representing the Jackrabbit Wrestling Club, Gross won all three of his matches in his challenge bracket, then won a best-of-three series to qualify for the 2016 UWW Junior World Championships in Macon, France, this August. Continue reading
IRVING, Texas – The final four members of the 2016 U.S. Junior World Freestyle Team were determined, as the UWW Junior World Team Trials concluded on Sunday at the Irving Conventional Center.
A best-of-three Championships Series was held in each weight class, with the 2016 UWW Junior Nationals champion advancing directly to the finals, where he faced the winner of Sunday morning’s Challenge Tournament. Three of the UWW Junior National champions won their series on Sunday.
Two members of the 2015 U.S. Junior World Team earned repeat trips to the Junior World Championships, Mark Hall of the Minnesota Storm at 74 kg/163 lbs. and Zahid Valencia of the Sunkist Kids at 84 kg/185 lbs. Continue reading at www.teamusa.org
