St. Cloud, Minn. – The 6th Annual Husky Fall Wrestling Clinic was a big hit this past weekend on the campus of St. Cloud State University. Over 80 participants and coaches attended the one day clinic on Saturday, October 29 in the Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse.
Former SCSU wrestling great and 2011 NCAA DII National Champion John Sundgren highlighted the day event. The clinic serves as a kickoff to the wrestling season each year and promotes the sport of wrestling within the St. Cloud area.
“We had a great turn out to this year’s event,” said Assistant Coach Tyson Reiner. It was great to see all of the numbers and the enthusiasm as we head into the 2011-12 wrestling campaign.
The Huskies wrestling team will again be hosting camps next summer. The tentative times for these camps will be in June 2012. Details will soon be posted and available to the public. Please check back at the Husky Home Page for more details on these exciting wrestling opportunities.
The Huskies open up their 2011-12 campaign on Friday, November 4, as they host their Annual Black/Red Classic. SCSU placed second in the nation last year at the 2011 NCAA Division II championship. The Huskies won the 2011 NCAADivision II Super Region 3 title and also posted a school record 19 dual match wins (19-2) in 2010-11 under the leadership of Coach Costanzo.
