SDSU’s Andrade named WWC Wrestler of the Week For 2-0 Outing

OREM, Utah — South Dakota State sophomore Isaac Andrade was named Western Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week for his 2-0 outing Sunday against Buffalo and Dakota Wesleyan.

Trailing 4-2 entering the third period against Buffalo’s Max Soria, Andrade (125 pounds) recorded a three-point nearfall to spearhead a 7-6 comeback against UB’s best wrestler.

SDSU JackrabbitsAndrade returned to the mat to make quick work of Dakota Wesleyan’s Will Seydel, as Andrade recorded the fall in 2:35.

The Redding, California native now sits at 17-11 and has a 6-4 dual mark.

This is the fourth time a Jackrabbit has earned the award this season, as senior Cody Pack has honored three times this year and the first time SDSU has won back-to-back awards in program history.

SDSU continues its month-long homestand this weekend with Boise State Friday at 7 p.m. and Northern Colorado Sunday at 2 p.m.
