NEWBERRY, S.C. – The second D2Wrestle.com National Wrestler of the Week award presented some tough choices, and ultimately two wrestlers stood out. This week’s winners are St. Cloud State’s Clint Poster Findlay’s Nick Goebel .
Poster also earned NSIC Wrestler of the Week honors after winning first place honors in the 157 lbs. bracket at the 2014 Harold Nichols Open at Iowa State University on Nov. 8 in Ames, Iowa.
OREM, Utah — South Dakota State Senior Cody Pack has been named the Western Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week, as announced by conference officials Tuesday afternoon.
Pack went 4-0 at the 22nd Annual Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open on Sunday. The two-time NCAA qualifier recorded two tech. falls en route to his first Dak Open title after losing in the championship bout the previous two seasons.
BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana senior Parker Swanson was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference wrestler of the week in a release on Tuesday afternoon.
Swanson went 4-0 on his way to the 165-pound title at the Daktronics Open hosted by South Dakota State.
Victory over top-ranked opponent earns Schiller a share of the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week Award
The Big Ten today announced that Gopher Wrestling’s Scott Schiller earned Big Ten Co-Wrestler of the Week honors. For Schiller, a two-time All-American who began his redshirt senior season last weekend, this is his third career Wrestler of the Week award from the Big Ten conference.
Schiller earned the honor with an exciting comeback victory against then-No. 1 J’Den Cox of Missouri when the two faced off in the 197 bout at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic in Philadelphia. After Cox built a 3-0 lead early in the second period, Schiller rallied to tie the score at three before winning the match 5-3 in sudden victory overtime by successfully executing his second single-leg takedown of the match.
The annual Minnesota/USA Wrestling Awards Banquet was held on Sunday, October 5th at Neighborhood House in St Paul.
Joe Russell, former University of Minnesota wrestler who’s now head coach at George Mason University, has been named 2013 USA Wrestling Greco-Roman Coach of the Year, the nation’s governing body for the sport announced Saturday.
In addition to heading up the GMU Patriot wrestling program, Russell served as a coach of the 2013 Cadet World Team, which finished 13th in the World with two bronze medalists, Cade Olivas and Jon Jay Chavez. They were the first two FILA Cadet Greco-Roman medals won by the United States since the FILA Cadet World Championships were revived by FILA, the international federation of wrestling, in 2011. State tournaments across the country came to an end just over one month ago, and in some cases close to two months ago. Even so the last few weeks were pretty stock full of high-level competition with all-star matches and the various postseason national tournaments. With all of that in the books, the 2013-14 season/cycle has come to an end, and it’s time to wrap things up with a pretty little bow.
InterMat does so by naming its All-American team, a listing of the top-ranked wrestler at each weight class, along with the selection of the High School Wrestler of the Year. Mark Hall (Apple Valley, Minn./Minnesota Elite) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

OREM, Utah – As voted by its coaches, the Western Wrestling Conference has announced postseason award winners for the 2013-14 season. North Dakota State 165-pound senior Steven Monk was the unanimous WWC Wrestler of Year. Wyoming 184-pound redshirt freshman Benjamin Stroh was named WWC Freshman of the Year and North Dakota State head man Roger Kish was chosen by his peers as the WWC Coach of the Year.
The Wrestler of the Year and Freshman of the Year awards were voted on by the league’s head coaches this past week, while the Coach of the Year balloting was determined after the NCAA West Regional/WWC Tournament.
