Concordia-Moorhead Records Second Straight Top 3 Finish At National Duals

FT. WAYNE, Ind. — Concordia loves the National Duals Tournament. The No.4-ranked Cobbers posted their second straight top 3 finish at the prestigious Mat Mayhem National Duals Meet as they beat No.3-ranked Wabash (Ind.) to finish in third place.

Concordia finished second at last year’s national duals and continued their national success at this year’s tournament by beating three teams ranked in the top 20 of Division III, including two in the top 5. CC went 3-1 at the Mat Mayhem event and improves to 9-4 in dual meets this season. The four losses have come at the hands of a pair of top-ranked NCAA Division squads and the top 2 teams in Division III.

Wins Over Top 25 Teams Secure Spot In Semifinals for Concordia

FT. WAYNE, Ind. — No.4-ranked Concordia spent Friday cementing its reputation as one of the top 10 teams in the country. The Cobbers won a pair of matches against top 25 teams on the first day of the Mat Mayhem National Duals to advance to the semifinals for the second straight year.

Concordia raced past No.-18-ranked Johnson & Wales 28-9 in the first match and then edged No.5-ranked Mount Union 18-17 in the quarterfinals. The two wins push Concordia’s dual-meet record to 8-3 on the season and set up a date with No.1-ranked Wis.-Whitewater in the semifinals on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Semifinals set for NWCA Multi-Divisional National Duals in Fort Wayne

St. Cloud State and Concordia-Moorhead among semifinalists

The semifinals have been set for the NWCA Multi-Divisional National Duals presented by Hibiclens and the United States Marine Corps in honor of Cliff Keen at the Allen County War Memorial in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The event is held in conjunction with other events run by the United Wrestling Group.

Augustana finishes 1-2 at NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Augustana College wrestling team finished 1-2 at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals after a 24-13 loss to No. 10 Lindenwood University on Friday. The Vikings record dropped to 7-4 on the season.

TJ North, ranked first in 125 pounds, started Augustana off with a three point advantage with a 3-0 decision over Marcos Rios-Tamayo of Lindenwood.

Johnnies Suffer Three Narrow Losses at National Duals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Saint John’s wrestling lost three duals by one match, including a pair to top-15 teams, at the NWCA/Cliff Keen Division III National Duals on Friday, Jan. 9, in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Johnnies (3-11 dual record) started the day with a 23-17 loss to No. 15 Alma (Mich.) before falling to No. 14 Wilkes (Pa.) by a 20-16 score. Eliminated from the 24-team bracket, SJU wrestled Augustana (Ill.) to a 25-21 defeat later in the day.

St. Cloud State advances to semi’s of NWCA DII National Duals

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The #7 St. Cloud State University wrestling team (5-1, 0-0 NSIC) advanced to the semifinals of the 2015 NWCA Division II National Duals tournament with a pair of victories on Friday, Jan. 9. The tournament is being held this year in Fort Wayne, Ind.

In first round action, the Huskies charted a 25-13 victory over Fort Hays State University and then punched their ticket to the semi’s with a big 22-17 victory over #4 ranked Ouachita Baptist. The Huskies will now face #2 ranked Maryville University in the semifinals of the NWCA Duals at 11 a.m. on Jan. 10, while #1 Notre Dame (Ohio) and #17 Upper Iowa will match up in the other semifinal match. The championship is slated to take place at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 10.

#7 St. Cloud State to compete at 2015 NWCA DII National Duals

The #7 St. Cloud State University wrestling team (3-1, 0-0 NSIC) will continue its 2014-15 season with a trip to the 2015 NWCA Division II National Duals tournament in Fort Wayne Ind. on Jan. 9-10.  This 16-team tournament will be held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind. and it will feature 12 teams ranked among the nation’s top 20 NCAA Division II wrestling programs.
